Week 14 weight loss journal

Heyy =)

I found this saying a couple of years ago but now I don't remember where so I made one myself. Just thought it was funny (and so true) to share. I wish I took my own advice, I find so many excuses not to do things!

I'm super excited. Not only am I on spring break but my boyfriend is coming tomorrow from Sweden to spend easter with me. It will be so much fun and I can't wait.

Yesterday I went shopping for jeans and I found the perfect ones. I must say it was a hard task though, I'm currently between sizes and the jeans I have are too big but the size down is still tight. A bit frustrating.

Tomorrow I'm going for a much needed trip to the hairdresser. I love the feeling of having a light fresh cut but I haven't found the perfect hairdresser yet. I never end up leaving 100% satisfied.

Food

For some breakfasts I had the normal green smoothie but around the middle of the week my fruit ran out and I didn't want to buy more since I'll be gone this week so didn't make sense to stock up on it. When I didn't have green smoothies I had some toasts with turkey breast and a cup of milk/coffee.

On monday me and my family tried a new restaurant downtown called Found You and they serve fondue. It was so so good, I really loved that place. The fondue came with a few varieties of meat and prawns, french fries, rice, fresh fruit and an assortment of 4 dressings. For dessert - no judging - I had chocolate fondue with strawberries. Delicious stuff.

I believe it was on tuesday that I made one of my favourite dishes: bolognese. Can't really go wrong with a bolognese, specially if it has plenty of tiny bits of carrot (I love biting on carrots in a bolognese). I used quinoa pasta and served with with broccolli on the side. For another meal I made meatballs with mash potato and broccolli.

The rest of the week I had a lot of grilled chicken, quinoa pasta and egg (I love pairing a fried egg with pasta because then I don't need a sauce, I use the yolk as a sauce for the pasta and it's all good).
I also had omelette on one of the days because I wasn't very hungry and didn't feel like cooking.
Today for dinner I made mushroom risotto with broccolli, red bell pepper and some pak choi.
As snacks I've been having a lot of fruit, that I also bring to school in a container, usually orange or apple. I also bring a sandwich with me to school or a banana.

Not to mention a LOT of water. I drink plenty of water normally but the weather is starting to warm up so I drink even more.

Exercise

I exercised twice but I lacked a lot of motivation to do it, I admit. Even so it was a good effort.

Week faves #1

I decided to start these posts because over the week there's things that I'd love to share with you but didn't have a specific space for it, so now I do. It won't be a weekly post unless there's things each week that I find particularly interesting/share worthy. The favourites can be anything I find online, from blog posts to pictures, recipes, or youtube videos. This is the first post of the series and I hope you like it =)

1. This article where nutritionists say what they would order at McDonald's if they really had to.

I don't go to McDonald's (I haven't in years at  least) for the simple fact that I love McDonald's. Since I like it so much I don't allow myself to go there because I know it would be the end of me since it's so unhealthy. If you do go to McDonald's or if you have to go there because your friends want to go too, maybe this article will help in case you're on a diet. Even if that's not the case, it's still very interesting to see what people that are in the know would order if they had to eat there.

2. Okay I'm cheating, this isn't from this week. But this is my favourite gif of all times, every time I see it I laugh out loud for real. Too funny!

3. Legend says this is the app the Kardashian sisters use to make themselves look cute for selfies - Perfect 365. As for me, I use it to put wigs and makeup on my boyfriend's pictures and laugh for ages while he just stares at me happy to be of entertainment. But seriously, do it! You will not regret it.

4. This amazing video by Loey addressing some body confidence issues.

She's awesome, if you're not a follower yet you should.

5. This very sexy outfit by Sarah.

I don't think I can rock this at university though. I might get expelled.

OUTFIT | Going Navy

Hey

It's officially spring, even if the weather doesn't want to cooperate. I'm a spring baby (born in May) so spring for me means my b-day is just around the corner. These pictures were taken when me and my boyfriend went to a naval museum, on a day almost as cold as today (the things a person does to get outfit pictures), and I wanted to show you this really cute navy shirt from Forever21 that you saw in my new in post. The opening at the back is such a nice detail and perfect for the spring weather that I'm hoping will arrive soon.

Week 13 weight loss journal

This week has been chaotic and another one follows. I have so much work from school to finish before my Easter break and I hope I can get it done. Thankfully I'll have some rest over Easter to regain my strength back. What keeps me going is knowing that this is the last semester where I'll have to deal with group assignments, drama and people that just don't seem to have their act together. I should have mentioned my measurements last week but honestly I felt lazy and didn't want to get up and take my measurements so I'll do it this week.

Measurements

Height: 164 cm
Waist: 90 cm (-1)
Hips: 112 cm (-4)
Chest: 100 cm (-2)
Thighs: 74 cm (-2)

Food

food healthy meals weight loss journal

I haven't been as good with food this week. Not trying to  make any excuses (I know I was bad) but the stress definitely got to me. I'm so stressed I've even been feeling week, my head hurts and I just feel bad all around. I've been having plenty of coffee which is something so out of character for me, I don't even like coffee that much, but right now I just can't say no to the added energy and stamina it gives me.

I've been abusing on carbs a bit, I had boiled potatoes for a few meals and not that much salad (all I have is arugula, not my fave).

I still have plenty of that quinoa spaghetti I bought a couple of weeks ago so I had that this week, made a very simple stir fry with chicken bits and some vegetables, with arugula as a side.
I haven't had much time to cook so for a few meals I just had grilled chicken with some tomato slices on the side and lettuce.

Last night dinner was quinoa spaghetti, chicken slices and spinach, all tossed in some double cream (I told you I was bad!).

Today I had some fish sticks for lunch. Again, fast and easy. I cut some tomatoes to go with it and warmed up a vegetable mix that was pre-packaged.

As snacks I've been having yogurt, fruit or toasts with butter.

Exercise

I don't think I've ever felt so bad with exercise as I did this week. One of the days I felt so sick I thought I would seriously pass out. The other times I exercise went fine though.

I'm really sorry that this post isn't as comprehensive as some other weight loss journals but I'm really out of whack just thinking about all the school presentations I need to push out this week. People who can blog full-time are so lucky, this is so much fun =)

Youtubers I love and recommend

Hey everyone, I hope you have great plans for the weekend.

A while ago I posted about my favourite bloggers and today I thought I'd show you my favourite youtubers. As with bloggers, I follow so many youtubers I couldn't possibly fit them all in a blog post, but these are my favourite ones and you might find one that catches your interest.

Plus size and beauty fashion blogger. Stunning girl, so beautiful to look at. She posts a lot of lookbooks and outfits so I watch pretty much all of her videos. She also posts some beauty videos like makeup tutorials or reviews.

I can't tell you how much I love Sarah and her sassy personality. She's a plus size youtuber and posts a bit about everything from outfits to lookbooks, she does some vlogs too. She has a great plus size confidence series (Dear Fat Girl) which are very empowering. Not only is she a lovely girl but she's also absolutely gorgeous to look at.

Not a plus size blogger but so worth checking. Sweet and gentle soul that lives with depression and seeks the beauty and joy in the little things in life. She really is inspirational and her videos are beautifully edited with a lot of humour thrown in. Seriously go look through her videos!

Beautiful and down to earth personality. You can tell from the way she talks that she's being so genuine and caring. I really like her videos, she uploads outfits, makeup tutorials and body confidence related videos.

Gorgeous girl. I watch every single one of Megan's videos because I feel like our style and body type is very similar and she also shops a lot at Forever21 so I get to see how the clothes would look on a normal person.

I don't think I need to say much about Shannon, I'm sure every single one of you know her. I've been following her since she was a brunette - and if you know her you know that's a very long time. She posts stunning makeup looks that I will never be able to reproduce, but I still watch it because she's awesome. Also love the fact that besides all of her success on youtube and other areas of her life, she's still very down to earth.

How about you? Let me know which youtubers you follow because I'm always looking for new interesting people.

OUTFIT | Lady in Blue

I couldn't like this blazer more. Unfortunately it's not something I can wear very often because of it's very attention demanding colour. I bought it a couple of years ago when I was desperately looking for a blazer that fit me and I found this one in a color I fell in love with. I love to pair it with outfits that would be otherwise very average. I feel like the bright blazer makes an outfit more fun and not so meh.

Week 12 weight loss journal

"I can resist everything except temptation"
Oscar Wild

I don't think Oscar Wild was referring to food when he wrote this beautiful piece of wisdom but it's so true to food nonetheless. Temptation has a very strong grip on me, specially if it comes in the form of chocolate. It's just something I need to keep working on. I've been in such a great mood this week, spring is the happiest time of the year. I get to start wearing my colourful and light clothes, it's lovely.

Food

For breakfast on Thursday I decided to try something new - these banana and oats pancakes - since I've been seeing these pancakes everywhere. They're healthier than normal pancakes, the batter is made with banana, oatmeal and an egg. For my personal taste they're not that great as people paint them. The taste is alright, nothing amazing, but what really turns me off is the consistency. It's a very soggy, mushy and slimy consistency because of the bananas and I'm really not a fan of that. The strawberries on top totally saved it though so it wasn't a terrible breakfast. I'm really not selling it well am I? Try it for yourself if you think this is something you might like since it definitely is a lot healthier than some things people usually have for breakfast. You can pimp it up with some cinnamon if you like that (I hate cinnamon), or some honey in the batter, anything you'd like to give it more flavour. A huge point for these pancakes: they kept me full for hours, not even kidding. I had breakfast around 8:30h and it is now 11:40h (yes I'm writing this part on Thursday) and I'm still not hungry.

My sweet grandmother bought me some portobello mushrooms, she does that sometimes since she knows I love mushrooms. So I've been using them left and right, every single day pretty much. It's a great addition to a vegetable stew and it's so low in calories, it's crazy.

Another great side dish to your meat or fish is salads. This week I've been mixing regular lettuce with arugula (not my favourite type of greens but now I'm stuck with it since I have a full bunch). Tomatoes and some baked potatoes have also been a stable this week.

My mom bought me some tortellini stuffed with spinach and they are delicious! It cooks in 3 minutes and I made a mushroom sauce to go with it (just cook down mushrooms, onion and seasonings, blitz it until you reach a creamy texture).

I experimented a bit with lentils this week, and it might just be the bad cooking/lack of knowledge with it but it's just not my thing unfortunately.

As snacks I've had some toasts with butter, or strawberries (which I've also been bringing to school in a little container).

Exercise

I.Am.Exhausted. This week I really pushed my boundaries. I worked out 4 times which is the normal for me but I feel like I really worked harder than I usually do. I just hope the weather doesn't get super hot because I just can't work out in the heat, it really takes my motivation away. I'm looking into some waist trainers, I might get one to try, have you ever exercised with a waist trainer? I'd love to hear your opinions or results with it.

Filipa wants #2

We all know Spring is coming and with it comes the cute lively soft clothes, I love to read through other blogger's wish lists because sometimes I discover things that I'd absolutely love to buy in shops that I don't usually visit so I have no idea what I'm missing. Some of these are old news (like the pixi glow tonic) but I never tried it and I'd love to have it so it deserves a spot in my wish list. I hope you enjoy.

Week 11 weight loss journal

Happy women's day everybody =)

Another Sunday another weigh in. I'm pleased to tell you I lost the 2 kg I gained in Sweden so I'm back on track to my previous weight. This week wasn't very eventful so I don't really have anything exciting to tell you about. It has been so hot here in Lisbon (around 22ºC) which is very surprising I think for this time of the year. It's sunny, the air smells wonderful and birds are starting to sing. You know it's time to get those dresses and skirts out of the closet and show them pale legs to the world.

Food

I've been into braised vegetables and meat this week. One in particular I'll be making more often: carrot, zucchini, red bell pepper, chick peas and a lot of cilantro. It was delicious, but I love cilantro and chickpeas so how could it not.

I also tried making lettuce wraps. Just fill it with your ingredients of choice and wrap it like a taco but it won't work as well unless you use big lettuce leaves. It's very quick and tasty, and a lot less calories than tacos or fajitas. For mine I used red bell pepper, feta cheese, grated carrot and tomato. I served it with an egg and some pork.

I used the quinoa spaghetti again, made a sort of stir fry with minced meat, red bell pepper, mushrooms and onion and served it with some lettuce and feta cheese salad.

As snacks I've been loving some crackers with butter or cheese (I don't know what do call this cheese in English but it's quite light in calories). I also caved in to temptation yesterday and had a glorious chocolate ice cream that was sooo good.

For breakfast it's the normal - green smoothies.

Exercise

I exercised 3 times, 2 of which were the normal dance videos, the third one I decided to venture myself into the realm of strength exercises - had to stop after a while because my neck and back hurt!

Fit me, fit me not

Let me tell you a story. 3 years ago I was desperate looking for a dress I saw on pinterest, and it became viral on facebook, wheretogetit, and other social media platforms. It was love at first sight, I couldn't get the dress out of my head. Until I fount it, surely by a strike of destiny, at ASOS on a major sale. They didn't have my size, in fact they only had the dress in 3 sizes below mine. A smart person would have closed the tab and go on with their lives but not yours truly. Oh no, I bought it under the premiss of "it will fit me by new year's eve".

Time passed and new year's eve turned into "my birthday", and then "christmas", and "new year's eve" again. I can tell you 3 years later and that sucker still doesn't fit me. It has become my mission over this time to make it fit, and it will fit one day, maybe even this new year's eve (no laughing). I think it's good to have a visual motivation, something to aim for. And the day I zip up this dress and it fits me I'll know I've made it, I fit into my dream dress.

And you, do you have any hidden clothes to fit you later?

My bad shopping experience: Aliexpress review

Around two months ago I made an order on the site Aliexpress, which is a market where several sellers can sell their products. Long story short: I ordered 4 items and they're all a disappointment. If you want the long version stick around because you're about to get it.

First I ordered this beautiful piece of lingerie and it's just as sexy in person as it is in the pictures. The problem is that from the measurements described on the website the lingerie should fit me but it is far from fitting me which makes me think the measurements on the website are a lie. I'm very disappointed that sellers would do something like that just to make it sell more. Update: I checked the item again on the website, now besides the XXL they also added bigger sizes to it going to a 5XL. Besides it going to a size 5XL it mentions below that the sizing system is only ONE SIZE, so I'm a bit confused as to why they'd mention all the sizes if it's one size...

Second, I ordered yet another piece of lingerie. This one fits, but the problem I have with it is that it's not the same as in the pictures. It's quite similar, but it feels like it's a replica of the lingerie they show on the pictures. It's quite a lot longer than the one from the picture and also looks less delicate and poorly manufactured.

The next item I bought was a memory card for my phone, 8GB. I received it, tried it on my phone and was quite excited that it actually worked given the disappointments so far with this order. Two days after having the memory card on my phone I got a notification saying the memory card was damaged and I needed to insert another memory card. To be sure it wasn't the phone acting out I tried reading the memory card with my laptop which also didn't work so I'm certain the memory card was sent to me already in poor conditions.

The fourth and last item, thankfully, is the top you can see below. As you can see in the first picture it was completely unwearable. When they sew the crochet pattern they must have made a big mistake because the pattern wasn't even centered, it was drifting to the side and it's quite obvious also. In hopes of saving at least something from this dreadful order at Aliexpress, I decided to resew the crochet pattern in the correct position which turned out okay, at least now I can wear it.

I must say that Aliexpress does have a buyer protection policy, where you can complain about a purchase if you're unhappy with it, but since I was on vacation and wasn't here to collect the orders and open to make sure everything was okay, the buyer protection option expired. Still, in 4 items there's not one that I can say I'm happy with, and I'm not even very picky with these things. I'm extremely disappointed with the service and what I've received, and even more so because I contacted the sellers and none of them has replied with even an apology. I would not recommend purchasing in this shop, Probably not all the sellers on the site are dishonest but at least don't make purchases on the ones I linked. Don't be scammed the way I was.

Week 10 weight loss journal

I hope your weekend was good and that you got to rest a bit before another Monday. Mine was spent trying to catch up with some school work I needed to do so I'd say it was pretty productive. Yesterday I went grocery shopping and I got a lot of healthy interesting items for me to try next week, I'm excited about that. I don't know if it's just me but I love going to the supermarket, it's very relaxing. Maybe it's because it used to be a little ritual I loved as a kid, going with my grandmother to the supermarket. She'd stroll around very slowly looking at what she needed to buy and she let me take the wheel cart which made me feel very important and grown up. She'd also let me bring some treats for me and I always brought a book (the Goosebumps series by R. L. Stine, did any of you read it?).

I know it's physically impossible to lose that much weight in a week but I felt quite good about myself, I felt like I'm less bloated. I'm also in a great mood, I think it's the thought of spring coming. Or maybe it's because my sweet boyfriend is coming to Lisbon for Easter and it will be so much fun.

Food
The week started with an amazing Italian dinner for my mom's birthday. The restaurant was great, really good food. We ordered a lot of food so we could all try a bit of everything instead of ordering a dish for each person. The vegetarian risotto was delicious, and I really liked the tortellini with prawns and curry sauce.

I bought something interesting at the supermarket - quinoa spaghetti flavoured with parsley. I've been hearing about quinoa for quite sometime now and I want to get on the quinoa bandwagon but I'm afraid I might not like it since I've never tried it. For that reason I bought this spaghetti made with quinoa flour so I can try it before I buy the real deal. So far so good, I tried it with Brazilian meat the other night with some salad and I liked it.

Due to my school schedule I need to get creative with what I have for lunch. On some of the days it's not possible to sit down and have a full plate meal, so at the lack of inspiration I've just been taking sandwiches with me. I need to research good meals on-the-go. What I've been using for my sandwiches is whole wheat bread (those with seeds on the crust, yum) and lettuce, ham and butter inside.

I've been craving mushroom risotto for a few days. It's silly I know, but I just really want mushrooms and I wish I bought them when I was at the supermarket. I made risotto for lunch with beef and spinach but it didn't satiate my desire for mushroom risotto. Need mushrooms asap!

I'm back to my beloved green smoothies for breakfast! It's so nice to know exactly what I'm going to eat and what I need to prepare. I bought strawberries and pineapple for smoothies and those will last me a while so I won't need to restock for the upcoming weeks.

As snacks I'm having something very unusual for me. I've been wanting to try hummus for quite sometime, and I even thought I'd make it myself so it's healthier. I decided to buy a little tub at the supermarket to try it before I get into the whole making it myself business since it requires some investment in the ingredients. I think I like it, I'm not sure yet. This one I bought has way too much lemon flavour and I'm not a fan of lemons, I love chickpeas though so I was hoping it had more chickpea flavour which isn't the case at all. I might love it if I make it myself since I'll probably withhold from using any lemon. What I did for snacking was putting some hummus in a little container and dip raw carrots in it. I never thought I'd be eating raw carrots for a snack but I must say it's quite nice and flavourful. I'm even considering prepping a container with hummus and carrot to bring for school and snack on between classes.

Exercise

I felt so lazy this week, very out of focus. I exercised 3 times but I don't feel like I invested a lot in it, it was more of a mechanic exercise rather than a "I'm going to give it my all" exercise.
