Invisibobble Review - should you buy it?

Hey hey

Recently I bought a little box of invisibobble hair rings, I believe this is their winter collection in the colour Winter Punch. Each box costs 4€ and comes with 3 hair rings. You can get it at amazon, ebay, boots and a lot of other places. I'm not writing this review based on this box I bought this week, I have been using invisibobble for over a year, on and off.

Invisibobble isn't a new brand, it has been around for a while, but I feel like a lot of people haven't tried it yet so I'd like to to voice my opinion on whether or not it's worth the investment. Let me start by saying that if you don't know what it is, it's a brand that makes spiral hair ties that are supposed to not leave a trace on your hair (you know when your hair gets a  hair tie mark?! Ugh) and not tug on your hair.

I do tend to get a lot of hair tie marks on my hair with conventional hair ties which isn't very appealing since when I want to wear my hair down I have a very clear mark around my hair. With the invisibobble hair ties it doesn't happen at all, unless I put my hair in a ponytail while it's still wet and let it dry like that, but that's normal. When it comes to the no-tugging promise, I'm not completely satisfied. Do bear in mind that it tugs a lot less than normal hair ties, but it's not completely tug-free. This might be because my hair is very thin and on top of that it's layered, which makes it so that the hair tie doesn't have the same grip on all the hair so it tugs on the shorter, layered ones from my hairline.

But the tugging doesn't bother me that much, it isn't very dramatic. There is a bigger problem I have with the brand. The hair ties are tiny and thin, which makes them very fragile. It has happened more than once that after a couple of weeks they break in the little place where both ends were glued together. Now I wouldn't mind this at all if they cost 50 cents each, but at 4€ a box it's quite an investment to have to replace them after a few weeks or a month if they break.

All in all, I don't feel like it's 100% a worthy investment, since it's not that amazing when compared to other cheaper alternatives - I have a knock-off that I bought for 30 cents and although less delicate and aesthetically appealing it does it's job very well for a fraction of the price.

That said, I do get very excited with their collection launches and if there's a colour I really like, I buy a little box. I believe that's the biggest appeal with Invisibobble, their cute and delicate hair ties as opposed to how better they are when compared to other less expensive options.

If you want cute adorable hair ties that come in a huge variety of colours to choose from your money is well spent. If you're in it just for the promises the brand makes (traceless, no tugging) I would recommend not getting it because then you can pay less for a knockoff and get the same results.

Have you tried invisibobble? What do you think about it?

New In #4

Long time no see. Studying for university exams is a full time job. The good news is I'm on holiday (kind of, I still have some exams in June) and I plan to relax and do nothing. Being a student is amazing but it also comes with a disadvantage (at least for me) which is the extreme levels of stress and the inability to disconnect from it, I'm always thinking of what I have to do. But now I'm relatively calm and very excited for the 1st of July because I'm going to Sweden to spend the summer there. Anyways, I wanted to show you some things that I bought or received lately.

My mother gave me this hair oil by L'oréal for straight hair. I've used it a few times and when I do use it my boyfriend comments my hair looks so nice and loose. I haven't been using it long enough to notice big differences in terms of health in my hair or nutrition but I do think it makes my hair look very shiny (in a non greasy/oily way) and light weight. I have oily hair so I'm very careful with what I put in it because I don't want it to look dull and lack-luster but this one doesn't make it feel heavy or sticky at all.

I have been using the pore refiner by Bioderma for a while now because I received a lot of samples with my last purchase at the pharmacy and I loved it so much I decided to get the full size. This thing is amazing, for real! I have really oily skin and this product makes my face matte throughout the entire day (well at least from morning to afternoon, which is usually the time I wear makeup for). I totally recommend it and I'll be doing a review about it on the blog soon-ish. The micellar water came as a gift if you purchased the pore refiner. I have tried their micellar water from the Sensibio line and loved it, this one from the Sebium line I've never tried but so far I don't see a big difference besides the fact that it has a green pigment in it which isn't something I like since pigments irritate my skin. Hurry if you really want to get it because the shop that I liked in the name is doing a 1/3 off price on Bioderma.

My boyfriend bought it for me after knowing I was after testing it out. So far I'm very unimpressed but I so want to like this, I want it to work. I don't see it working very well for me but I'll give it a few more shots to prove its worth.

Shapewear - Shorts and Skirt Slip

I also ordered these two shapewear items from LaRedoute since I was looking for something to wear under tight dresses. This saturday I'm going to my best friend's graduation ceremony and these came just in time for that. The shorts were a PAIN to get into. Mysteriously enough, once they were on they were so comfy I didn't want to take them off. Weird stuff. They provide great control so I'm going to keep them. The skirt has its problems so I'm going to give it back. It's too short so it fits weirdly above my waist leaving me with some hanging fat over it. Not a cute look.

A lot of people don't know this but if you save the packaging of your Lush products after 5 pots you can go to the shop and get yourself a free fresh face mask, which I did today. I've never tried a Lush face mask because they don't last very long but since it's free who am I to say no! I got the Cupcake face mask because I've heard great things about it and the girl at the shop also recommended it for me. I tried it today for the first time and I only have two things to say so far: 1) it smells really bad and 2) it made my very dehydrated skin super soft so that's a win for me. Will write a review in the future when I have a formed opinion on it.

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think about them?

5 things I promise myself this summer

This post is written in collaboration with other bloggers, you can read her posts by clicking the links below this one. Debz had the idea of creating the #PlusSizePromise Challenge, the point is to write things that we promise ourselves for this summer.

Go to the beach more

I think I hated the beach until I went to the beach during Spring and noticed I missed it so much. I avoid the beach because a) sun - I have a small sun allergy and so being in direct sunlight becomes very uncomfortable for me; b) sand, I don't like sand stuck all over me; and c) heat - I suffer a lot in the summer because of the heat and it doesn't help my allergy at all.
So this summer I promise myself to go to the beach more and take sunshade with me so the sun doesn't become such a big problem. Also, to be honest for many years I have felt very uncomfortable going to the beach and thinking everyone will be staring at me. I even used to try and stay as close to the waterline as possible so the walk from the towel to the water was as short as it could be and I wouldn't need to be in everybody's face with my body. Which brings me to...

Not covering up my arms as much

Now that I have read some of the other blogger's answers I notice this one comes up for pretty much everyone. It seems as we're embarrassed of showing off our arms and I truly am. It's probably the part of my body that I like the least, I think they're out of proportion to the rest of my body and it's the only thing I can see sticking out of a sleeveless dress and ruining my entire outfit. It doesn't look like I'm self conscious about my arms because I don't go to great lengths to cover them up if I'm feeling hot, but if feeling hot wasn't an issue I'd definitely be wearing a cardigan over a sleeveless anything. This summer, if I'm not in need of a cardigan for warmth, I promise to take it out.

Keep exercising

This is one that ties in with the heat. I'm a good girl in the winter when it comes to exercise, as odd as it might seem. I'm much more likely to go for a long walk during the winter than in the summer, simply because walking in the sun really makes me desperate and moody. But it doesn't mean I can't exercise, I can keep doing my home exercises and get a fan to make me less hot. I really want to keep up the exercise this summer and not gain weight. Which brings me to...

Maintain my weight (at least)

I'm not like most people. Most people gain weight in the winter and lose weight in the summer. But yours truly really has a problem with the summer, the sun, the heat weighing me down, the sweat, ugh. Just makes me not want to do anything at all and just stay inside a pool with a bucket of ice cream. Thus I promise myself to keep my meals in check and work on maintaining my weight if not  losing some.

Accept and believe it when someone compliments me

Some people are very gracious when receiving compliments. I do accept them and say thank you but I do not believe them sometimes. When it's about my looks I think "you're just saying that because you're my boyfriend/mom" or even regarding my intellect I'm like that too. Even this week a teacher complimented me on my abilities and I did feel really good about what she said but I also thought "well, I could be better". Which is silly isn't it? Why would someone go out of their way to compliment me if they didn't truly mean it? I promise to me (not necessarily for this summer but as a continued effort) to not knock down a compliment just because I don't think I'm enough for myself.

Have tons of fun

Am I the only one that is slowly turning into an old lady when it comes to having fun? My idea of fun used to be put on a skin tight dress, go to some club and drop it like it's hot. Now my idea of fun is a nice glass of Baileys, a blanket and a nice movie with my boyfriend. No I'm kidding, it's not only that, but you know what I mean. This summer I promise to try to have more fun that doesn't include movie and a blanket. The Baileys is welcome to stay though.

How about you? What do you promise yourself for this summer?

Have a nice weekend =)

30 day Crunch Challenge - join in!

Hey

I want to invite you to do a challenge with me. It's the crunches challenge, everyday the number of crunches you have to do increases. The challenge isn't mine - me and my boyfriend found it in this great place called the internet last year and decided to do it. I believe we got to around 100 crunches and then for some reason we stopped.
We're going to restart it again and you can take the challenge too. I don't think I'll grow some abs by doing this but it's just one more step towards being more fitness minded and it's fun.

If you accept the challenge let me know in the comments section, I'd love to know. If crunches isn't your thing then there's other you can do, get a friend to join in and see how far you can get in the challenge this month.
