My Favorite Work-out Videos

Finally! I've been wanting to write this post for a while and here it is. I have searched the internet for the best workout videos, tried a bit of everything and ultimately discovered what my preferences are and what turns working out into a fun activity (yes, I didn't think it was possible, but it is!).

So.much.fun! It's my favourite and it's a series of workout DVD's made in collaboration with the Ministry of Sound, which means the soundtrack is very upbeat and hip, nice to sing along to. There's several of them (I believe they release one every couple of years) but these are my two favourites: Pump it Up with Deanne Berry and Pump it Up with Gareth Walker. They have quite a poor video quality on youtube but meh, still works.

They're quite long (over an hour) but you don't need to do it all in a row. The videos are divided into sections, usually consisting of a warm up, toning, dance sections and then cool down. So what I normally do is the warm up and then one or two of the other sections.

I love this series by Shaun T. The videos are short (25 minutes) and you're supposed to do one every day. The videos come with an exercise plan saying which video you should do on a given day. It's also divided into 3 levels of difficulty so you start at the lower one and progress to the third one. This is the series I started with when I decided to lose weight and exercise, and I highly recommend it. It's beginner friendly (there's a modifier on the side doing simpler moves if you need it) and you can tailor it to your preference/needs as you go. Personally, when I was starting out I found some videos were a bit too difficult for me and that made me lose motivation so what I did was I found the ones I preferred and I only did those. Over time I started doing the others I couldn't do before.

Unfortunately I cannot find it in good quality on youtube but I still watch it and you can find it here. It's the Pussycat Dolls' dance moves, including the choreography from Don't cha and Buttons. It also includes a burlesque choreography, as well as a warm-up and cool down. It's really fun and sexy and it will get a sweat going. If you're very fit or used to high intensity workouts then this one isn't for you, it's quite soft in terms of workout.

Also very beginner friendly. There's a few dance videos (5 or 6 if I remember correctly) and they stem from short (20 minutes) to long (an hour) and like the T25 workouts it also comes with a calendar saying which videos you should do on a given day. The choreographies themselves are fun and there's also a modifier on the side with some modifications of the moves to make them easier in case you have problems keeping up. This one is great if, like me, you enjoy dancing but after a while it won't be enough since the routines are very repetitive and once you learn the routine it becomes a bit boring.

Not something I would recommend for someone who isn't comfortable dancing. I cannot keep up 100% yet but I'll get there (it's still exercise even if you don't get the moves right). It's definitely a more advanced kind of dance video.

There are tons of videos on youtube, but these are my favourites just because I really like dancing, I do not enjoy repetitive moves such as lunges or squats. Still, if dancing isn't your thing, here are other youtube channels which are very popular and have a ton of options: Blogilates, POPSUGAR Fitness, Keaira LaShay.
Here are other random videos I also like to do: Zumba Dance Workout for Begginers (tiring, at least for me), Dance Yourself ThinLatin Dance Aerobic Workout, GOGO Dance Video (not very demanding in terms of workout, but fun if you want something new),

Keep in mind that you can mix and match different videos to tailor the experience to your preference.
